Amazon has released the new version of Echo Dot —called Echo Dot 3rd Generation. It has all new design and more powerful speaker as compared to its predecessor 2nd generation echo dot.

I have just received my Echo Dot (3rd Gen) so let’s start unboxing it.

Amazon Echo Dot (3rd Gen) comes with the Blue box and new power cable. Size of new echo dot is 43 x 99 x 99 mm. 3.5 mm stereo audio output for use with external speakers (audio cable not included). New echo design looks good and feels good.

Yes, now you have a new power port as compare to an earlier micro USB port.

Setup of echo dot is very easy — 3 simple steps

With Echo Dot (3rd Gen) & Alexa can do many many things like,

4. Setup Smart home
5. Ask for music, news, and podcasts
6. Do local search
7. Setup alarms
8. Do Shopping

and many many more…..

Amazon has always put “Smart” before “Speaker”. But With this new generation echo dot, they have improved sound quality.

But one of my favorite features is “Drop In”. It is an in-house intercom system. You can call from your Alexa app to your Echo Dot.

Alexa is a powerful assistant developed by Amazon (It like Siri of Apple). Which is the brain in all amazon echo products, Alexa uses many AWS services like Amazon Polly, Amazon Translation, Amazon Lambda and more. We can build our own Alexa skill and launch it so that others can use. As my Echo Dot setup is done, I am thinking to do some research on Amazon Alexa. Stay tuned for more on this topic.
